Only Test, Bengaluru: Afghanistan tour of India, 2018
Day 1 Report
India dominate Afghanistan on Day 1
India took control of the proceedings on the opening day of their only Test match against Afghanistan in Bengaluru on Thursday. After winning the toss, Afghanistan elected to field, a decision that may have backfired as the Indian batsmen took advantage of the conditions and put on a formidable total of 347/6 at the end of the day.
The opening partnership between Mayank Agarwal and Priyank Panchal proved to be a solid foundation for the Indian innings. Agarwal, who was making his Test debut, impressed with a stylish 77, while Panchal provided stability with a gritty 67. The middle-order also contributed with Hanuma Vihari (55) and Rishabh Pant (51) adding valuable runs.
