Divock Origi Scores Late Winner to Give Liverpool Derby Day Victory Over Everton
Liverpool Reclaim Top Spot in Premier League
Cruel Luck on Derby Day
Divock Origi came off the bench to score a dramatic late winner for Liverpool as they beat Everton 1-0 in the FA Cup third round on Friday.
The Belgian striker replaced Mohamed Salah in the 84th minute and netted the winner just two minutes later, heading home a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The victory sees Liverpool reclaim top spot in the Premier League, moving two points clear of Manchester City who play their game in hand against Wolves on Saturday.
It was a hard-fought win for Liverpool, who were made to work hard by a determined Everton side.
The Toffees had the better chances in the first half, with Richarlison hitting the post and Gylfi Sigurdsson forcing a good save from Alisson.
Liverpool improved after the break and took the lead through James Milner's penalty in the 35th minute.
Everton continued to press for an equalizer, but they were unable to find a way past Alisson and Liverpool held on for the win.
